SAORI is a freestyle hand-weaving art

which was founded by Misao Jo in 1968 .

She was dissatisfied with the limitations

and rules applied to weaving at that time.

So she developed a new approach of

hand-weaving:

one without rules and restriction.

True freedom of expression is the main

philosophy.

Using colors, imaginations, textures and

widths, to weave likes an artist drawing

a picture or penning a poem.

And every flaw scintillates the

beauty of SAORI.

SAORI encourages:

Instead of focusing on techniques

or weaving methods,

it guides you through connection,

conversation, and exploration
 

to discover yourself, embrace

bold experiments, and create

with freedom and joy.

紗鷗麗乃是一種來自日本的手織藝術，

由Misao Jo城美紗鷗女士於1968年創立。

當初，她曾經問過紡織工廠的東主的意見，

回說她所織的布斷了一條線，

有瑕疵所以不能賣出；

但這 瑕疵在她心目中簡直是自然的美，

從而啟發了她創立SAORI的念 頭。

SAORI 提 倡：

不訓練技巧和織法，只以 引導、

溝通和交流，尋找自我，放膽嘗試，

自由奔放地創作。
